Water & Wastewater Management

Water & Waste Water Management

Water and wastewater management is a critical pillar of Odisha’s sustainability and urban resilience agenda. Rapid urbanisation, industrial growth, and climate variability are increasing pressure on water resources, treatment infrastructure, and service delivery systems across the state.

For Odisha, the challenge is twofold: ensuring reliable access to clean water while managing wastewater and effluents in an environmentally responsible manner. Effective water and wastewater management is essential not only for public health and environmental protection, but also for sustaining industrial growth and economic development.

The Odisha Cleantech Association (OCA) works to promote efficient, scalable, and technology-driven water and wastewater solutions that align with Odisha’s urban, industrial, and ecological priorities.

Water & Wastewater Landscape in Odisha

Odisha’s water management challenges vary across regions and use cases:

  • Growing urban centres with increasing demand for drinking water and sanitation services

  • Industrial clusters requiring reliable water supply and compliant effluent treatment

  • Stress on surface and groundwater resources during seasonal variability

  • Need for improved wastewater collection, treatment, and reuse infrastructure

Addressing these challenges requires integrated planning, decentralised solutions, and adoption of modern treatment and monitoring technologies.
